If you have agricultural or food policy development experience, this is an incredible opportunity to join a new team in the world’s leading independent conservation organisation and help change the future of our planet.
At WWF UK we have launched a new 3-year strategy with 3 main impact goals; tackling climate change; thriving habitats and species and changing the food system. Our new Policy Solutions team will be vital to delivering on these goals. As Senior Policy Advisor - Production we want to you to use your knowledge of agriculture or food policy development to help design and leverage government policy on food production systems and play a key role in ensuring our new strategy is a success.
Ideally we are looking for someone who understands the economics of food production and food policy, and how it is financed (public and private), including recent policy developments around the new Environmental Land Management Scheme and UK Food strategy.
As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will broadly work across food production and focus on developing, implementing and influencing high quality policy. This will involve working with colleagues to understand the problem, exploring and developing novel solutions as well as designing and prototyping policy. You will help analyse existing and proposed policies for effectiveness and quality as well as identify new policy ideas from other contexts or locations.
You will also lead research activities, produce technical reports, documents and briefings as well as commission consultants when needed. You will work with corporate partners in the food and financial sector to support the net zero transition in the agriculture sector. Importantly, you will lead meetings with stakeholders, relevant civil servants and technical experts as well as build links with relevant organisations and our global offices to support the process of developing and influencing policy.
To play a part in our new team, you will have a strong understanding of how policy is influenced, both inside and outside Government and the ability to develop and influence key stakeholders. An experienced researcher, you will possess strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills. An involvement in grant management and fundraising would be an advantage.
